Dr John Firth

Dr Firth has a background of multidisciplinary surgical training which included Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Accident and Emergency, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Following his qualification at Birmingham Medical School, he has worked as a Principal in General Practice in Stourbridge from 1985 until 2015, when he retired to part time work.
During his years as a GP he worked as Clinical Assistant in Urology, performing the cystometry investigations at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham from 1986 to Oct 2002. During this time he published articles relating to Female Incontinence.
Between 1987 and 1994 I developed and patented the Pelvic Floor Exercise weight later launched as Aquaflex®. His Integrated Care Pathway for the management of Female Urinary Incontinence was published in 1996.
Furthermore, Dr Firth was lead GP clinician in the Dudley South PCT commissioning, working on the Continence Referral Pathway for Primary Care until 2011 and in March 2014 he was appointed as the lead GP in the Dudley Care Commissioning Group for Lower Urinary Tract Infections.
He has worked closely with the Dudley Continence Nursing Team since 1994 and is a co-author of the latest Dudley Guidelines for the management of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in men.
